The purpose of the friends system is different for OOC accounts and Clan accounts.
If you are an OOC account, the friends system is the normal friends system. Follow someone, they follow you back, friends!
If you are a Clan account, the friends system manages allies. If someone follows you, they want an alliance with your Clan. Accept, and you accept a Clan alliance. If you are an ally of a Clan, battles against that Clan will be rejected unless the two Clans stop the alliance.
