Avlod takes place in an alternative universe, or AU, Warrior Cats world. Therefore, the Clans, cats and events from the books never existed. This means that anyone can play as a Clan from the books but with a different leader, deputy, medicine cat, territory, etc. This also means that you don't have to read any of the books to play Avlod. All you need to know is what Warrior Cats are and how Clans work, and you're good!
